After you have selected your race, you must choose your class structure. There are three classes in Bloodlines: Fighter, Rogue, and Scholar. You will select a primary, secondary, and tertiary class at character creation. You may take skills from your primary class at the listed price; skills from your secondary class will cost an additional 2 points per level or purchase, and skills from your tertiary class will cost an additional 5 points over the listed price. This class structure cannot be changed after character creation. There are also common skills, which can be purchased by any character for the base listed value.

Having selected both race and class, you must purchase your skills, traits, and other abilities. Inherent Traits can only be purchased at character creation, but all other skills or abilities (including magical abilities) may be purchased at any time. If there is a number in parenthesis next to in a skill cost, it represents an increased cost if the skill is purchased at a time other than character creation. You begin play with 45 Character Points to spend on abilities for your character. You may take a maximum of 15 CP worth of disadvantages to gain additional points for other abilities, but bear in mind that these disadvantages cannot be removed. In addition, submission of an appropriate and accepted character history will award you with 5 CP.
